DTV is so unfair

I think it is entirely digital television thing is unfair. According
to the hype all one needed to do was buy the
convertor box and you would have the same
reception as before (or better). First of
all there is no way is that box worth $49.99. That
is the cheapest I could find. I can barely afford
this - now I have to buy a fancy antenna because my
rabbit ears aren't pulling in the channels anymore.

Echostar has one for $40.00. Did you get a government coupon worth $40.00? Net cost, just the sales tax.

Also, as discussed all over the place, you may need a different antenna. A combination VHF / UHF. Many channels moved on June 12th and some didn't even mention that. Go to TV Fool and plug in your address then select "Post Transition All or Digital" and see where your "Real" channels are.

If you got your channels with rabbit ears, don't worry too much yet. You may just need to add a "bow tie" type UHF antenna for around $5.00 or less. At worst, a little square amplified antenna for $30.00.

Don't give up the ship yet as you are probably in a very strong signal area if you are only using rabbit ears.

ChristineG, Welcome to the DTVUSA Forum. Hang in there. We should be able to help you get your issue resolved. I agree with Yes616 and would ask you to follow his advice. With the information gathered from TV Fool we can make recommendations for your reception.
