The PowerLite Home Cinema 8500 UB and the PowerLite Pro Cinema 9500 UB have earned THX certification. Both are 1080p and have met high minimum standards for the THX certification including,

color accuracy, to black levels, to their ability to deinterlace interlaced resolutions. According to THX, only 10 percent of the displays manufactured today can meet those standards.
Both the 8500 UB and 9500 UB are LCD based, and both offer a 1,600-lumen rating, a claimed 200,000:1 contrast ratio, and Epson's UltraBlack technology. The 9500 UB offers additional features as well, along with an included ceiling mount. Both models are currently available through home theater AV specialists, at $2,499 (list) for the 8500 UB and $3,699 (list) for the 9500 UB.

Ive been a fan of the Epson PowerLite line of projectors for some time.

They arent as highly acclaimed as the Panasonics, Mitsubishis, Sanyos, or Sharps, or as widely known as value brands like Infocus and Optoma. You can pick up great deals on them on eBay, because of this, falling through the cracks aspect.
