FCC chairman sees 'spectrum crunch' ahead - Technology - NewsObserver.com
"
Julius Genachowski, the nation's top telecommunications regulator, warns that this nation's technology renaissance could turn into a chimera of dropped wireless calls, agonizingly slow downloads and budget-busting prices for mobile services.
Genachowski, chairman of the Federal Communications Commission since June 2009, said the nation is running out of airwave spectrum needed to transmit e-mail, video and other wireless broadband signals.
"The spectrum crunch is real," Genachowski said. "If we don't do something about it we'll face lousy service and sky-high consumer prices.""
