The Amazon Fire set-top box was recently released by Amazon after a number of rumors of a new streaming TV box coming out soon by the company. After waiting on competitors such as Google Chromecast, Roku, and Apple TV, Amazon made a great attempt at addressing the shortcomings of these boxes with the release of Amazon Fire. As a result, a common question asked by consumers who purchase the new box by Amazon, is how to get Amazon Fire on your TV?

The Amazon Fire set-top box is very thin and is square. It’s almost as if Amazon did not want to resemble the Roku 3 or Apple TV what so ever in the design. The processor features a quad-core processor and dedicated GPU in the construction of the box (very similar to the Kindle Fire HDX tablet…just without its own screen!). The device features a Snapdragon 600 SoC chip that includes an Ardeno 320 GPU and 2 GB of onboard RAM. For mobile aficionados, this is the same chipset found in the 2013 HTC One and the Galaxy S4. This setup definitely makes the Amazon Fire the most powerful set-top box on the market at the time of this writing. Combine this with an onboard storage capacity of 8GB of flas storage, and you have a pretty powerful box, although many expect the 8GB capacity to be quickly filled up by those who are going to play games on the Fire.
What Type of Connections Does Amazon Fire Support?
The Amazon Fire TV comes with a number of options for methods to connect the box to a TV. These include an HDMI port, Ethernet, and an optical audio output. Additionally, there is a USB 2.0 port, although it does not currently support streaming content from the box. Similar to the competing set-top boxes from Roku and Apple TV, the Amaxon Fire box requires a TV to support HDMI in order to directly connect the box to the TV.
