NFL: Is Ray Rice's Marriage a Sham?

So if you read here:

It doesn't seem too "out there" that he's just trying to keep from being convicted of assault to me...I like the Ravens, but they have had a fair number of legal issues this year.

Only in the alternate universe of pro sports can one use a quick marriage as a way to get out of whatever he did. That would not make any difference in our world LOL......

That is true....His millions of dollars are his alibi. Its just how it goes in the sports world.

As a legal strategy, I suppose this would keep the new Mrs. Rice from testifying on certain issues due to spousal privilege. It's hard for me to imagine such an arrangement being a total sham, but in many ways professional football players seem to occupy a different universe from the one I live in...

Yeah, it should be interesting to see how it plays out going forward. My guess is he will get assigned probation at the most.
