LG 55EA9800 OLED HDTV - Energy effeciency tested and scores well

LG’s new Organic Light Emitting Diode (OLED) TV integrates an intelligent sensor that adjusts screen brightness to room brightness, resulting in an energy usage rating much lower than current rated LED HDTVs.

ITWire highlighted a recent energy star consumption test in Australia, that showed almost a 75% savings in energy costs for the 55EA9800.

Priced at nearly $15,000, the 55EA9800 carries a premium price tag and is available to preorder now. See CNets recent review on it here.

Demand is expected to soar to more than 7 million units by 2014. OLED technology is more durable and bendable than LED TVs and LG’s version has earned the highest US Energy Star TV certification to date.
