Loss of signal/server - DirecTV

TV connected to the DVR frequently gets error 771. The TV's connected to the genies display various errors, most often "Select a server, no server located". A "technician" was here just two days ago, replaced a cable connector and claimed everything was ginger peachy. Two days later same lack of service from Direct TV. When I spoke to the technical suppotrt supervsor, she suggested that I log into direct tv.com and watch TV on my phnone. Gee thanks a bunch.

Any clue as to what the problem is, outside of bad judgement in signing up for Direct TV?
