Mediacom Holds North Iowa Open Houses

Staff member
MASON CITY — Open houses are being held in North Iowa this week so Mediacom customers can pick up digital adapters so older TV sets can display digital signals for channels 23 to 79 when Mediacom upgrades its service this fall.

Mediacom is upgrading network technology to provide customers in an eight-county area of North Iowa with a channel expansion to more than double its high-definition (HD) lineup while also eliminating analog reception for most Family Cable video channels to allow room for the upgrade.

The upgrade affects customers in Clear Lake, Mason City, Rockwell, Ventura, Charles City, Hampton, Sheffield, Britt, Duncan, Garner, Cresco, Elma, Lime Springs, Osage, Forest City, Leland, Kensett, Manly and Northwood.

Mediacom’s upgrade will remove analog television reception for all but a limited number of basic broadcast channels.

In early November, at least 55 new HD channels will be added to Mediacom’s lineup. The boost will expand Mediacom’s HD lineup beyond 100 channels. Specific HD channels will be announced later.
