Most HDTVs Used for Viewing in Standard Definition

The main reason given is the extra cost of HD, and I agree to some extent. I also think a lot of people don't know what HD really is - Some people think that if it's 16x9, it must be HD. Another issue is that on many Cable systems, the most watched SD channels are in the 2-99 channel range, where they have always been. HD versions of the same channels are usuall placed in the higher channels. Old habits die hard. If someone wants to watch channel 13, they will go to 13, not 513 where the HD channel is.

But the worst possible situation would be paying for HD, to have paid the money to own an HDTV, and believe they are watching HD, but they have their TV hooked up in such a manner as to be viewing in 480p - or less.
