Network Switch Issue - Time Warner Internet

This question is about "Network Switch Issue", with Time Warner Cable internet and apps. My modem and router are WiFi working fine. I have a cable run from downstairs where the router is to the master bedroom where I have placed a NetGear ProSafe GS105 switch so the connection can be shared between a BlueRay and a laptop, and once a new run is made, to another run to another room.
The problem is the laptop will not connect to the network. I have tested the cable with a cable tester and it’s fine.
Any thoughts on what is the problem?
