new life for direct tv receiver?

Since we recently cancelled, and we wouldn't jump for any of their special deals to stay with them, they sent a return envelope for my old equipment. All they want back is the card out of the receiver.
Anyone have thoughts if this can be repurposed for anything related to OTA broadcast reception or recording? I still have the dish in the yard as well.

You must have purchased the receiver. Otherwise they would have sent you a return box. Some of the DVRs could be used with OTA signals, but I believe it only works if you subscribe to their service.

The receiver is useless without a subscription. Possible uses?
