Plasma or LCD?

There has always been the ongoing struggle between the choice of the type of television technology. Both types have their ups, and their downs. What points of each set do you believe to be the biggest ups that would draw you to buy it. Also, what are the downs that would keep you away?

I know somethings about both sets, and here is what I learned:

LCD is good for saving energy VERSUS plasmas.
LCD TVs last longer for their picture life.
Plasma screens will have a picture burnt in if shown too long in one place.
Plasmas can overheat very easily.
Plasmas ARE cheaper on the market.
Plasmas do have deeper black colors.
Plasmas are bigger in size.
LCD pictures are often more crisp.

I chose LCD over Plasma for the energy saving and the fact that they last longer. I found when I went looking too that LCDs were cheaper but I may be wrong. Another difference are LCDs are best in the day time Plasmas are best in darker environments so if you plan to watch a lot of movies then plasmas can be better for that reason.

Isn't it pretty much a trend in the industry to sell off the plasma TVs at a lower price to make way for the LCD TVs?

That was the impression I had, anyway.

I've never known it in stores to sell off their stock of plasma television sets to make room for the LCD television sets. Each TV people will buy, and that is a known fact. Some people will prefer a plasma over and LCD, and vice versa.

Each TV both have their ups and down, like everyone knows. There are no two ways about that fact.

People need to simply think about what they want, and what they can afford when they are buying a new TV.

When I bought my tv, I wanted to go for the LCD tv because of two reasons. One, it looked amazing in the store compared to the plasma sets. Two, I am afraid my video games will burn into a plasma screen. That wouldn't be too good.

People have way too many preferences when they are searching for their new tv. Either tv will be good for a normal viewer's needs. If you are going to be doing something really different, you might want to look into the specifications.

I've never heard of this before. In all the stores around here, it seems as though there are just as many plasma sets as there are LCD. As was said, they both have their ups and downs. It all depends on the person.

I think LCD is much better than Plasma. I have friends who own Plasma, and they always say how they wish they went with LCD. Plasma takes a lot more energy, they have a bit of burn in their screen, and it is very hot.

What I have come to believe is that both Plasma and LCD have constantly been eliminating their cons and even their price differences making the current market entries of either a Plasma or an LCD just about equal (I think). However, if I was to choose one, I would go for an LCD HDTV.
