Playback failed. No audio/video data packets received from server - DirecTV

So this is a new one.
We have a DVR downstairs (main unit), and 4 tuners in various rooms.
Most recently, here's the reproducible scenario that we are encountering

1. Someone turns on a tuner in a bedroom, and watches live TV
2. LIve TV works fine, you decide to change channels after a length of time, let's say 20-30 minutes
3. Screen goes blank (white) and after about 10 seconds, the error "Playback failed. No audio/video data packets received from server" appears.
4. There is no recovering from this error. no remote button pushes, and not even pushing the power button on the tuner works. The unit is completely frozen up, it seems. The only remedy is to unplug the power from the tuner and reset it that way. then it works again as LONG as you don't change channels.
5. This is repeatable in several rooms, at will.

I tried rebooting the DVR unit several times, even plugged the ethernet cable directly in to my Netgear Orbi router. Nothing seems to address this problem.

3 HD clients
1 4k client

I'm having the same type of problem, mine only happens at night between 8 and 9 pm. Had techs out 7 times and problem still there. No fix in site.
