Protection plan extortion - DirecTV

I've been on with Directtv telling them the reciever is not working. It states to reset the equipment. I do this and then it states you need to call support. I called into 800-531-5000 they tell me they can't see an issue so now I have to pay $49 to have them come out. I requested a supervisor to which I was told "well while I get my supervisor, I can offer you the protection plan for the first 30 days free...

I've now been on hold for 30 + min
