Randy Jackson quits American Idol!

The judging drama behind American Idol continues as details for the next season are being worked on by the network and producers. While the frivolous banter of Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul once ruled the competition singing show, these days it has been the feud, real or not, between Mariah Carey and Nicki Minaj, that have tongues wagging. In fact, Carey's husband Nick Cannon infused himself into the argument last week, blasting away about how his wife has been treated.

View attachment 2332 News has just broke that veteran Randy Jackson is indeed leaving the show. Stated Jackson, ""To put all of the speculation to the rest, after 12 years of judging on 'American Idol,' I have decided to leave after this season. I am very proud of how we forever changed television and the music industry."

Fox may actually give the remaining three of the current judges their walking papers after the current season ends, meaning that newcomer Keith Urban and the only original Idol judge remaining, and Randy Jackson, will be stepping down. Ironically, Urban recently topped a poll of all-time favorite Idol judges, beating out second place Cowell. Equally ironic, or perhaps intriguingly timed, is Thursday's news that Carey has fired her long-time manager -- Jackson! Reports say they may still work together in some capacity, but he is definitely out as the singer's manager.

The news gets worse for Idol, which lost out in the ratings to main rival, The Voice, on Wednesday. Oddly, the special airing of The Voice was its lowest for a non-recap edition.
