Rebooting the Residential Gateway - DirecTV

I've had U-Verse TV, Internet and Voice for several years. Does rebooting the TV receiver and the Residential Gateway around every month do anything positive to the system. I was told by a technician that rebooting the two every month or so removes errors and keeps the equipment operating efficiently.
