Roku: Why no HD tuner and DVR?

I was thinking the other day about how great it is to have the Roku which offers a lot of free content and paid content but you know what would make it even better?

An HD tuner with DVR

I wonder what's stopping them for offering such a device? It would make cable cutting so much easier. I see where they're going to start selling the Roku stick pretty soon, and the push seems to be toward shrinking the box instead of offering more options.

Simple.TV is going to allow you to use Roku as a front end/extender. That is essentually what your talking about. I don't think Roku ever wanted to be a "all in one" STB. In fact they have talked about using the Roku interface on third party equipment. Food for thought!

Cool will have to check that out. Why wouldn't Roku want to be an all-in-one? If their plan is to be a cable cutter's go to set-top-box, why not offer over-the-air?

^ Way too many hyphens in a paragraph. ;)
