Sen. Dodd to retire?

Wow, just heard that Democratic Senator Chris Dodd is set fpr a big announcement at a news conference later today. It's reported he'll be announcing that he won't seek re-election this fall. I guess the poll numbers are down significantly. Anybody else glad to see him leaving?

Dodd's not the only one in the Senate. Byron Dorgan from North Dakota, another guy who's been in the Congress for about three decades, also said he's not going to run this fall.

In my own state, Gov. Bil Ritter announced two hours ago that he won't stand for re-election... one month after saying he relished the opportunity for a good fight in the upcoming campaign. Now, it's "I'd be shortchanging my family by doing so."

Hmmm... Weaklings getting thrown under the bus, perhaps? :becky:
