Sony KDL-55W802A 55-inch HDTV vs KDL-55W900A55-inch HDTV

The Sony KDL-55W900A 55-inch HDTV and Sony KDL-55W802A 55-inch HDTV both have many features in common including X-Reality Pro, Dynamic Edge LED Backlight, built-in Wi-Fi and S-Force surround sound.

Both models also allow the monitors of ones Smartphone or tablet to be reflected on the television screen with NFC technology. The newest generation of X-Reality Pro is included in both models, allowing pictures to be seen in their original beauty with high contrast and realistic colors. Owners will never lose their manual again, since it’s built into the television for easy access.

Where the 900 differs, is that it has Motionflow XR 960 rather than 480 like the 802 model.

This makes movement on the screen more life-like and clear. The 900 is Sony’s flagship standard in its new W900 series, and one step up from the 802 series. Also in the 900 model is local dimming LED lighting which, when paired with the Quartz-cut design, gives the television a translucent color that emphasizes the effects of the TRILUMINOS display.

The signature TRILUMINOS display–which is not on the 802 model–gives a picture that is crisp, clear picture that is even able to display shades of red and green that are so difficult to reproduce. While the 802 has frame dimming, it’s not localized.

The Sony KDL-55802A is available at Amazon for just under $1,800 and the Sony KDL-55W900 is selling for just under $2,600.
