I'd love to have a Ku band can't afford it right now
I'll be working on a project later this year to see just how cheap I can put together a basic single satellite Ku FTA system. I'm thinking $30-$70 with a larger model salvaged DirecTV dish.

Really now let's just say your OTA already though how does this play into the game....connection wise ,,,splitters?
No splitters or A/B switch needed. You run a separate coax feed from your dish to your satellite receiver, and from receiver to TV via composite, component, or HDMI input.

BTW, "The Cool TV" was on FTA for a short time, but it's gone now. It may be back, but The Cool TV can't even seem to stay on OTA channels or even internet.

THIS because of that
Now you're just trying to confuse us...

This-TV: Movies, 24/7 - what a great idea for a subchannel! I don't understand why no other network has adopted that format. It's a no-brainer! I mean, how many classic TV channels do we need? MyFamily, RTV, COZI, Antenna, MeTV, etc ???

I want my This-TV back. Our local THIS affiliate KMYU 2.2 added MyNetwork as primary affiliation, and retained This-TV content only late at night, and sometimes on weekends. Sometimes. Today, for example, This-TV has 5 movies, starting at 9am, and ending with Stargate SG-1 at 9pm. KMYU 2.2 today (Sunday, 3/17) is showing a bunch of crap, ending with the only This-TV program all day, Stargate SG-1.

The worst part of it is that since KMYU is the Utah affiliate for THIS and covers the whole state via translators, no other station can pick up This-TV affiliation in Utah. And while there is an Idaho affiliate for THIS, it's not one of the channels I have a translator for, and besides that, it also does the same thing: MyNetwork TV as primary affiliation and This-TV is secondary. I can't even get THIS on a satellite without a big 6+ foot C band dish.

Grrrr...

I'm surprised no one has posted this info here. It looks like (according to Broadcasting & Cable) that Tribune Broadcasting will be taking over This TV's programming of the network. MGM has ended their partnership with Weigel Broadcasting, since Weigel is interested in programming Movies for Fox. Weigel also is working on a news type channel as well. It will definitely mean that This TV will move to WGN-TV this fall, & WGN-TV will add 9.3 for the network. For Milwaukee, I wonder if they'll get WITI to carry This TV, since it currently airs on Weigel's other station, WDJT 58.3. It mentions nothing about Milwaukee, since that's the other market where Weigel carries This TV.

Another thing, if This TV is available on FTA satellite with Weigel, I doubt it will be from Tribune. I don't believe Antenna TV is available on FTA satellite from the main source (maybe from an affiliate). I just hope Tribune doesn't screw up the programming when they take over This TV.

Actually I'm REALLY liking MOVIES! it's like having a 24-7 Antenna TV Theater....but the movies seem a little more thought out and themed...... but it's on Memphis (FOX 13) a station that blacks out during the day

For those of you in the Chicago market, WTTW is adding World Channel to their lineup. They will split their broadcast day on 11.3 with Create, & have Create on in the daytime from 7am - 8pm, then have World on at night from 8pm - 7am everyday. For me, this is a mixed bag, because I like to watch Create, & when I'm not working evenings, I like to watch it at night. So I'll miss out on Create. I watched World once from Gary, IN, when WMVS Milwaukee came in (after they moved World & V-Me from WMVT & downgraded from 1080i to 720p on the main channel, so WMVT could eventually go HD), & found that I wasn't really missing anything. Most of their programming I find on WTTW Prime in more convenient timeslots. For Create, the programming list is rather wide (unlike World in my opinion), & what might air on WTTW 11.1 or 11.2, might be in a better timeslot on Create. WTTW doesn't carry Hometime at all, & a number of other shows, while Create does (WYCC or WYIN might carry one of the other shows that Create does, but not always at a convenient time for me). The entire story is at this link.

I'm adding another update on the list. For Chicago area viewers that can get WPVN-CD's signal OTA, or watches this station on cable, WPVN-CD just ended their affiliation agreement with Luken Communications with Retro TV. I don't know if the bankruptcy had anything to do with it, or the affiliation ended, but Polnet (owner of WPVN-CD) decided to move Tuff TV to 24.1 (original channel for Retro TV) & TNN to 24.2 (original channel for Tuff TV). They claim that 24.3 is blank, but my TV is showing KBS on 24.3, while WPVN-CD claims it's 24.7. I don't know how much longer Polnet plans to carry Tuff TV & TNN, but if this is any indication, I believe that Polnet will eventually drop Tuff TV & TNN as well. They seem to be going more with the foreign language programming, as they already have Korean language programming on 2 subchannels, along with their own Polish language network, Polvision on 24.4.

Another update for Chicago. With Tribune Broadcasting acquiring Weigel Broadcasting's share of This TV, This TV will move to WGN-TV 9.3 on November 1st. This TV will be programmed from WGN-TV's studios in Chicago on the NW side, rather than at WCIU's studios in the Greektown neighborhood of Chicago. Also for WCIU, Bounce is currently carried on WWME-LD 23.2 (RF 39), they're moving Bounce to WCIU 26.5 on the same day, which will allow the entire market to watch Bounce, rather than only those closest to Chicago, getting it on WWME-LD 23.2.

Lately, it seems to be me that's providing any updates to stations carrying subchannels, & from the Chicago market. This latest update is one that's on a national level. For those of you in an Ion broadcasting area, they added HSN to their .6 (-6) subchannel. With more subchannels than WCIU Chicago carrying an HD feed on the main channel, it only tells me that Ion Media must have eliminated the Airbox service from their station's bandwidth. I'm not even sure if Airbox ever got off the ground, since it was supposed to be a pay TV service, using Ion's OTA signal & bandwidth, in MPEG4 format. It was eliminated on some stations when QVC was added to their .5(-5) subchannel. This latest addition must mean that Airbox is gone from their stations.

Sony Television's "Get TV" went live this week after about a year of a "Coming Soon" movie loop. I receive it on KTFD 14.3 Denver. It has classic movies from the 1930's through the 1960's, which is somewhat interesting, but I'm sure it isn't doing all that great in the 18-49 ratings. Does anyone else out their have it, and have you watched it? Have you enjoyed any of the movies?

My mom has watched Get TV here & there, & she likes it. She's in the 60+ category. Let's see what Sony has planned for Get TV in the upcoming months, & if it'll work out for them. In Chicago, it was predicted to be carried on WXFT-DT 60.2 Aurora/Chicago, but instead, Univision has decided to keep the SD simulcast of 60.1 on 60.2, & placed Get TV on WGBO-DT 66.2 Joliet/Chicago.

Now another update for Chicago. Luken owned Retro TV was pulled from WPVN-CD 24.1 last July, moving Tuff TV to the main channel, then Heartland (formerly TNN) to 24.2. Now, WPVN-CD has pulled Heartland from 24.2, & is blank at the moment. I told TripinVA that I expect Polnet (owner of WPVN-CD) to pull all Luken networks from their station , & I expect Tuff TV to be pulled any day now (not sure how long their affiliation is with that network). Once Tuff TV is pulled off of WPVN-CD, Luken will lose all presence in Illinois. Polnet seems to want to go for underserved ethnic & religious groups, over serving anything English language, the same group that Weigel abandoned completely in 2010 from WCIU 26.6 (a channel that no longer exists).

CptIA I KNOW RIGHT?! Untill I googled the This tv. I had no idea what the heck everyone was saying either lol.

But personally, I don't think This tv. can up my dish service provider. I know they are two totally different things but both depend on the tv. to work so that being said. This Tv. is a BFN. Hope this helps.

GetTV probably won't be coming to me in Utah. Its now a subchannel of Univision KUTH 32 in Salt lake, but there's no translator for it up here in Logan UT. And I doubt that channel 2 (a Sinclair station) will add a 3rd subchannel for GetTV.

OTOH, it doesn't much matter to me, since I will be moving out of Utah. Hopefully, soon.

your best hope for getting PBJ is to contact local broadcasters and ask for it. Independent and LPTV (low power TV) stations are usually more open to network suggestions from viewers than the "big guys".
