Taliban Captive: CBS News' Jere Van Dyk Tells Harrowing Tale

From the artiicle:

"Forty-five days trapped in a room with three men, held by an unseen militia, interrogated in a language not his own, forced to practice a religion not his own, believing each new morning brought the potential of death.

In 2008 Jere Van Dyk, a correspondent for CBS News and an Afghanistan expert, set out to go where no modern Western journalist -- or any journalist, for that matter -- had gone before. Armed with little more than his notebooks, Van Dyk contracted fixers to take him into the wild and ungoverned border region of Pakistan, near Afghanistan. He spent weeks prepping for the trip, growing his hair and his beard, trying to blend in.

Then he struck out for where the Taliban rules, where Osama bin Laden is said to be hiding and where Americans are forbidden to go." ...

... "But he lived to tell the tale that became the book, "Captive: My Time as a Prisoner of the Taliban," due out Tuesday. It is a haunting story." ...
