Upgrade - XFinity

I just got a tv alert that checked to see if I needed updated equipment, the alert stated that I will lose my hd channels unless I upgrade (or something like that). What are they sending me, and I hope I not being charged for upgraded equipment. What is wrong with the HD DVR box that I have now????
