What's it called when crowded subchannels cause bandwidth problems?

There's a term for when a station has too many subchannels and picture quality suffers, right? It can sometimes cause pixelation. Can't think of it off the top of my head. :duh:

I'm not sure if it has a name, but it's often referred to as compression, since they need to lower the quality in order to make it fit within the bandwidth. The pixels and such, they're often called "Artifacts", usually as "jpg artifacts" due to that being a common compression form, regardless of the file format used.
