Why do we keep losing internet connection for apps and on demand viewing? - DirecTV

On DirecTV, I try to watch some on demand programming or the TV apps (like Score Guide and weather). I keep getting the notice that the internet isn't connected. I reconnect and am able to see the things that I want then, a few days later, I get the need to reconnect notice again. What has to be done so that the connection stays connected?
