Wifi connection difficulties specific to about half the devices in household. - Time

This question is about "Wifi connection difficulties specific to about half the devices in household.", with Time Warner Cable internet and apps. We have an Arris TG1652G. Since the Spectrum changeover, or around then, a number of our devices have a hard time connecting to wifi. Both 2.4 and 5Ghz wifi channels are on. An Android cell, a 2011 MacBook Pro, an HP Chromebook and an iPhone 5S all have difficulty getting onto the network . The Android suffers worst - when it works at all, it takes minutes to authenticate. Meanwhile, my 2014 MacBook Pro and iPhone 5S (same iOS version as the other one) seem to never have problems., and when others can't connect at all, I'm able to connect with excellent speeds and strong wifi signal. This is across either 2.4 or 5Ghz networks - same problems on both. It's a very perplexing problem as it's so device specific. Any ideas?
