dtv.com is not the government's $40 dtv coupon website, it's actually a private business that's purchased dtv.com for use to promote satellite tv products. The government's official $40 tv converter box coupon website is located at http://www.dtv2009.gov. The FCC's DTV information webpage is located at www.dtv.gov.

A recent news article "exposes" dtv.com as a "fishy website" that's trying to confuse consumers into thinking their clicking on to the government's dtv coupon webpage page.

Do you think dtv.com is a fishy website, or was it just a smart marketing move to purchase that domain name?

The guy that owns dtv.com is profiting from people trying to upgrade their televisions due to a government mandate. I'm not sure if he's breaking a law exactly, but morally, it's just wrong. DTV is confusing, and even ordering the dtv coupon is hard enough for some folks who aren't use to operating a computer. dtv.com is making it even tougher for these folks.

It looks like dtv.com is a bit different. I checked the website registry on it and it looks like they're going to own it until 2017. At least they took down the scam site.
