Xfinity connect app not connecting. - XFinity

When trying to open Xfinity connect app I get a message saying connection could not be established. It has worked for years without issue but after the major internet issue you had the other day it does show new emails in the app but you cannot open them. I uninstalled and reinstalled the app with no difference. What can I do to fix this?
