Problem:

Xfinity XR2 remote does not control set top box Cisco RNG150N.

Service installed two days ago. TV not yet out of moving boxes. Internet worked fine. Now TV is plugged in, but, TV displays one channel -- but XR2 remote does not control the set top box. No power on/off, no Guide, no Xfinity menu, nothing. Remote was apparently 'recycled', as it came with two different makes of AA batteries. Installed two brand new batteries of same make -- still did not work. Searched online for instructions to reset this remote.

Solution:

Re-programming XR2 Remotes for XMP, Motorola or Cisco IR Modes

Factory reset

1. Press Setup for 3 seconds until the status LED at the top of the remote changes from red to green.

2. Press 9-8-1

A factory reset removes RF pairing, IR programming, and puts remote in XMP (Comcast IR) IR mode.

This worked for me. Now all functions on XR2 remote work fine.
